i really cannot understand

Can anyone pls explain it to me?
Despite starting the season so shaky
having makeshift defences
having more young inexperienced lads to play the game
it seemed like the difference between the top spot, Chelsea and runner-up, Manutd
is only a mere 2points
a lost from Chelsea and a Win from Manutd would bring Manutd Back to where they should belong
the TOP SPOT =)
it was great mancity got a win last night over chelsea

was fantastico!
